In Woomera

A song by Enda Kenny©Enda Kenny 2002

In the desert, the Aussie desert
There is no sleep tonight
In the desert, the Aussie desert
The children weep tonight

In Woomera, In Woomera, In Woomera, In Woomera
In Woomera, In Woomera, In Woomera, In Woomera
Away... we lock them away

Behind the wire, the razor wire
There is no sleep tonight
Behind the wire, the razor wire
The children weep tonight

So free the children, the little children
And let them sleep tonight
Free their mothers and all the others
And they won't weep tonight...

Away... why lock them away
Away... why lock them away (etc)

Notes

Thanks to Enda Kenny for permission to add this song to the Union Songs website. Enda writes:

"I've been singing a parody I wrote to the tune of Wimoweh with the following words. We got about 500 people singing it at Maldon Folk Festival this weekend and it's being picked up by union choirs in Hobart, Blue Mountains, Canberra and Sydney".
